Frequently asked questions

SlashTab is a bill splitting app for restaurant meals, group dinners, drinks, and shared expenses. Scan a bill, assign items to each person, split tax, tip, and fees proportionally, and track what is still open.
SlashTab is free during the beta.
SlashTab is on iPhone and iPad (iOS 17 or later) via Apple TestFlight. Tap Download on this page, install TestFlight if prompted, then install SlashTab from there. An Android version is not available at this time.
Yes. Sign up with your email and password to save bills, add friends, and sync across devices.
Tap Scan, capture or choose a bill photo, and review the line items. Then pick who is on the bill, who paid, and assign each item. SlashTab calculates each person's share and splits tax, tip, and fees proportionally.
Add SlashTab friends from the Friends tab by handle, or scan their QR code. You can also add guests from your contacts when splitting a bill. They don't need an account. If you paid, share the bill link with guests and tap Mark as paid once they send you money.
Yes, when enabled. SlashTab can send notifications when someone adds you to a bill, when a payer sends a reminder, or when your payment is marked paid. Payers can tap Send a reminder on an open balance. Reminders have a short cooldown between sends.
SlashTab does not send, receive, or hold money. Open a bill, tap Pay, and choose Venmo, Cash App, or Zelle. Venmo and Cash App open with the amount prefilled. For Zelle, SlashTab copies their contact and shows the steps. Tap Mark as paid once money moves. Either side can do this, and tap Paid again to undo a mistake. SlashTab is not affiliated with Venmo, Cash App, Zelle, or any payment provider.
Check the amount and recipient on the bill first. If anything looks wrong, ask the recipient to confirm their payment details in Edit Profile. SlashTab does not handle payments. Venmo, Cash App, and Zelle complete the transfer on their side. For Zelle, you will copy their contact into your bank app. Verify everything before you send money.
Open the Profile tab. Open bills show what is still open. Completed bills appear once everyone has been marked paid.
